Personalized hotel search experience

Trivago is an online global hotel search platform that help all types of travellers to compare hotel prices and preferences through the platform.

The Challenge

The challenge in this case study was to design a hotel search experience that caters to travelers by considering prices, location, and conditions, ultimately boosting the likelihood of users making hotel reservations.

My Approach

I gathered the key insights from the 2019 report of Trivago Industry Insights to understand what is the most used filters on Trivago when travellers looking for ideal hotels.

Price range

was the most frequently used filter on the platform, followed by 'Guest rating' and 'Top amenities'.

78% of travellers

who filtered by guest rating choose 'Excellent' or 'Very Good'

Included breakfast

was the most popular amenity filter, followed by 'Hotel Pool' and 'WiFi'

The Concept

The newly proposed layout ensures easy navigation for all users, whether they're seeking a suitable location or exploring hotel facilities.
The report highlights commonly used filters like popularity, price, guest rating, location, and accommodation, making it simple for users to discover and click on these filters to save time or fully customize their search.
